چکیده

Surfactant adsorption to fluid interfaces is ubiquitous in biological systems, industrial applications, and scientific fields. Herein, we unravel the impact of hydrophobic phase (air oil) role oil polarity on surfactants interfaces. We investigated anionic (sodium dodecyl sulfate), cationic (dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide), non-ionic (polyoxyethylene-(23)-monododecyl ether) at different interfaces, including air oils, with a wide range polarities. The surfactant-induced interfacial tension decrease, called pressure, correlates linearly initial clean oil–water interface describes experimental results over 30 studies from literature. higher competition surfactant polar molecules caused number adsorbed drop. Further, found that critical micelle concentration water solubility water. Hence, nature affects behavior equilibrium state These broaden our understanding enable better predictability interactions phases, which essential for emulsion, foam, capsule formation, pharmaceutical commodities, cosmetics, many food products.

Kinetics of Surfactant Adsorption at Fluid-Fluid Interfaces: Surfactant Mixtures

The adsorption at the interface between an aqueous solution of several surface-active agents and another fluid (air or oil) phase is addressed theoretically. We derive the kinetic equations from a variation of the interfacial free energy, solve them numerically, and provide an analytic solution for the simple case of a linear adsorption isotherm. Calculating asymptotic solutions analytically, w...

Kinetics of Surfactant Adsorption at Fluid-Fluid Interfaces

We present a theory for the kinetics of surfactant adsorption at the interface between an aqueous solution and another fluid (air, oil) phase. The model relies on a free-energy formulation. It describes both the diffusive transport of surfactant molecules from the bulk solution to the interface, and the kinetics taking place at the interface itself. When applied to non-ionic surfactant systems,...

Kinetics of Surfactant Adsorption at Fluid/Fluid Interfaces: Non-Ionic Surfactants

We present a model treating the kinetics of adsorption of soluble surface-active molecules at the interface between an aqueous solution and another fluid phase. The model accounts for both the diffusive transport inside the solution and the kinetics taking place at the interface using a free-energy formulation. In addition, it offers a general method of calculating dynamic surface tensions. Non...

Dynamics of Adsorption from Micellar Surfactant Solutions at Expanding Fluid Interfaces in Relation to the Emulsification Process

A detailed theoretical model of micellar kinetics is developed and applied to the case of surfactant adsorption at fluid interfaces. The adsorption gives rise to diffusion of surfactant monomers and micelles, and to release of monomers by the micelles. The numerical solution of the problem reveals the existence of four distinct kinetic regimes. At the greatest expansion rates (lowest surface ag...
